Pownce Im is a bot that allows you to communicate with Pownce
And it can now update you when you receive a new note.
Just send the message "help" to "pownceaim" from any AIM account or "pownceim@gmail.com" on any Jabber client, to setup PownceIm for yourself.
PownceIM now has two modes, easy and advanced.
Easy allows you to send messages and links immediately to the public without any major syntax at all.
Sending a message is basically:
What a cool bot PownceIM is.
pownceaim: I have sent your message.
Sending a link is:
link: www.google.com Just thought google was cool.
pownceaim: I have sent your link.
The two methods will make things a lot easier and efficient for your use with Pownce.
Advanced is the only method of which requires a bit of no-how, for example:
send: message, public, I love Pownce!
This bot use oAuth with Pownce.com
Which essentially means, the bot will ask you to authorize its use with your account.
Once your authorization is done, you never have to do it again, and if you want, you can even de-authenticate the bots use of your account.
[NOTE]
If Pownce is a bit slow for some reason, PownceIM will be affected.
When PownceIM notices this, notifications from Pownce will happen closer to every 5 minutes as opposed to every 2, as to not have a lot of load on Pownce.com.

login not working
hi, i tried to do the login at the aim bot but after i click the link the pownce api asked for user and password but it don't accept it :-( on the pownce homepage i can login with that user and password.
did i something wrong?

I added pownceaim to my list and then sent the message "help" but nothing happened. The bot does appear online, so I'm not sure why it didn't work. Does it work for anyone else using pidgin (2.4.1)?

The current issue is that my server is having curl problems for some reason. hosting the bot on my personal laptop it runs smoothly, but on the server it decided to stop running one day.
I had plan to fix this before I went to Coechella but alas, I have not, and I am sorry for the delay. This should be fixed within a day or two.

Im working on setting it up with jabber, this issue lies with certain things.
The main problem is the Jabber library for php needs some work.
But I do have it working with Jabber, just not entirely stable, and I had to tak a different route than with links, gmail doesnt let you send formated HTML :(

I just added "pownceaim" to my buddy list, but as others say, it appears offline. I'm using meebo.

I can't get this going since pownceaim seems to be offline all the time. Is there a trick to this? I am using Adium on Leopard.

This sounds incredible and has been the only thing I've been wishing Pownce had for a while now. However, I'm getting the same problem as seyDoggy. "pownceaim" is never online. I'm using Adium 1.2.4 on OS X 10.4 (Tiger)

pownceaim bot appears offline allways!
I've added "pownceaim" to my buddies and it doesn't seem to ever be online! I'm using iChat on leopard. But it doesn't appear online on gmail, where I've added it also, either!
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I've tried adding and deleting it from the contact list a couple of times and the same thing happens.
Anyway, I hope it works, because it's something that pownce has been missing since the beginning.

I'm using the bot for 3 days now. It's really fantastic :) Except the messaging I reallay find a pain after a while.
I'm mostly send message to all. Sometimes to some one. I find typing the whole line really a pain. Something like
send: message, all, blah.
I would suggest some modification of the syntax, like :
message to all : blah
message to kyle : hello
event to all : blah, friday, 11pm
link to all: url
I mean the send: isn't very relevant for me, and may be remove.
"to" may be an option, and if not explcitly writing, it's sent as public.
You can go even further. I'm using the Jaiku bot too.
- to send message to the public, just type any text,
- to send a private message : @user message
This is just a suggestion :) If this helps... What do you think ?
